Veteran's Day Thank You

Today was Veteran's Day. I had the day off of work as my employer gave me
and some other staff this holiday. Others had to work today but got holiday
pay for it. What did I do today? I celebrated this day by taking advantage
of the freedom that I have to get involved in organizations which advocate
for those with disabilities. I took care of some board-related business for
one such organization and was proud to do it. Those who fought and died for
our freedom gave me the freedom to do this type of work. I appreciate it
and want to thank everyone, whether they returned from war or not, for their
service. It is because of your sacrifice that I am able to do what I do.

I am able to advocate for legislation which would benefit people with
disabilities. I have been too /Capitol Hill in Washington to do this
advocacy work; and I always feel honored to do this. I know that not
everyone in this world has the freedom that I have to speak to my elected
officials. In fact not everyone in the world has the freedom to elect their
government, much less criticize it. It's a freedom I cherish now and
always.

Again, to those who have served this country and continue to serve this
country, thank you very much. We would not be free today without your
sacrifice and commitment.
